The “Prosveata” publishing group announced that from the 2026/2027 school year, students in first, second, fifth and sixth grades, as well as in computer modeling and information technology (CMIT) in seventh grade, will study from updated textbooks.
A key change in the new textbooks is the replacement of leva and stotinki with euros and euro cents, in accordance with the upcoming introduction of the euro in Bulgaria.
The publishing group has already submitted for approval to the Ministry of Education and Science (MES) draft textbooks in mathematics, technology and entrepreneurship, geography and economics, as well as CMIT for seventh grade.
Significant changes have been made in the educational content of the mathematics and geography and economics textbooks for fifth and sixth grades, due to changes in the curricula. The textbooks have been revised in accordance with the requirements of the MES and include the change of currency.
Only the currency has been changed in the mathematics textbooks for first and second grades.
The same applies to textbooks in technology and entrepreneurship for first, second, fifth and sixth grades, as well as CMIT for seventh grade. “Prosveata” presented two different textbooks for each subject, developed by different author teams.
In addition to printed versions, all textbooks also have electronic versions, which have also been updated.
The revised textbooks also include new teacher's books, which facilitate lesson preparation.
The change of currency in textbooks for the remaining grades and subjects will be carried out gradually in the following years.
The change of textbooks is carried out jointly with the process of providing new textbooks, the publisher explains.
