The Road Infrastructure Agency has undertaken significant transport improvements on first-class road I-1 in the town of Kresna. On 07/03/2025, a new traffic light was installed, which will optimize movement and safety for pedestrians and drivers.

The innovative facility has a "push-button on request" feature that allows pedestrians to safely cross the roadway. The system will operate in test mode with constant monitoring to assess traffic regulation effectiveness.

The decision was made during a working meeting with the Minister of Regional Development Ivan Ivanov and representatives of the Ministry of Interior, on the initiative of Mayor Nikolay Georgiev. The main reason is the increased travel to and from Greece during the summer tourist season.

In parallel with the traffic light installation, additional improvements were made to the route. Dividing posts were installed, which limit left turns towards Kulata near the railway underpass. Additionally, new transverse and longitudinal markings were placed for better traffic organization.

Short-term measures aim to ease traffic and improve road safety. The long-term strategic solution is the construction of a bypass road that will divert transit traffic outside the urban environment. Construction is planned to start in September of the current year.

The Road Infrastructure Agency appeals to drivers to be extremely careful, observe speed limits, and avoid risky maneuvers. Citizens can get current road information on the official website www.api.bg or by calling 0700 130 20.
