What does the new gender equality plan provide for?
The Ministry of Labor and Social Policy (MLSP) has presented a draft National Action Plan for the Promotion of Equality between Women and Men for the period 2027-2028. The document is already available for public consultation on the "Strategy" portal.
Equality is key to economic growth and the building of a fair and inclusive society.
Main priorities of the plan:
- Labor market: Increasing qualifications, more balanced gender participation in sectors, and improving work-life balance.
- Pay: Measures for income transparency and reducing the pension gap between women and men.
- Combating violence: Focus on the prevention of domestic violence, workplace violence, online harassment, and human trafficking.
- Decision-making: Ensuring equal opportunities for career development and balanced representation in leadership positions.
- Overcoming stereotypes: Active campaign against sexism and discriminatory practices through media monitoring and information campaigns.
The plan builds upon the National Strategy for the period 2021-2030 and aims to synchronize national policy with Bulgaria's international commitments.
Important: The public consultation continues until September 11, 2026. Citizens and organizations can submit their opinions via the Strategy.bg portal.
