A New Vision for Supporting Children in Bulgaria
The Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Natalia Efremova, emphasized that the ministry's main priority remains reducing the number of children living at risk of poverty or social exclusion. The statement was made on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the National Network for Children (NNC).
"We want to lift families out of the vicious cycle of poverty," stated Minister Efremova during the forum.
Key Measures and Programs
- "Future for Children" measure: Successfully reached 26,000 children through the European Social Fund Plus.
- "For Every Child" measure: Focus on home-based care for children up to 3 years of age and early development.
- Combating extreme poverty: Initiative to identify the most vulnerable families and provide targeted assistance.
Challenges Facing Social Policy
Minister Efremova highlighted several critical areas that require urgent solutions:
- Ensuring timely medical care in remote areas.
- Developing a national housing strategy to support poor families.
- Introducing free lunch for all students in schools.
- The need for a public debate on the adoption of a National Strategy for the Child.
