Currently, Bulgaria does not have up-to-date and representative data on breastfeeding practices. UNICEF and the WHO emphasize that without a sustainable monitoring mechanism, it is impossible to track progress toward global goals.

According to experts, every 1 dollar invested in promoting breastfeeding generates 59 dollars in economic return through better public health and higher long-term incomes. Increasing breastfeeding rates can prevent hundreds of thousands of deaths annually.
