Over 2 tons of yogurt and yoghurt and more than 4,200 liters of ayran from a dairy in a village in Silistra will be destroyed, the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) announced.

In a refrigerated chamber, yogurt and yoghurt were found without identification marking, which certifies the batch and expiry date. Also found were tubs of yogurt with a total weight of 750 kg and nearly 17,000 bottles of ayran with marked future production dates and, accordingly, manipulated shelf life. The inspection was carried out on April 24, and the date of production of the ayran was noted as April 25. According to the date on the yogurt lids, it was produced on May 3 this year.

The violations in the dairy in the Silistra region were established by inspectors from Dobrich. The BFSA continues to apply the principle of so-called cross-checks, in which employees from one region work in another region of the country. In this way, local dependencies and attempts to put pressure on the control bodies are avoided.

Over 3.5 tons of animal-derived foods have been seized and will be destroyed following an inspection by inspectors from the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency in a meat-producing and meat-processing enterprise in the town of Dulovo, Silistra region.
