The Ministry of Education and Science published additional sample tasks for the national external assessment in mathematics in 7th and 10th grade. The new materials integrate topics from the field of natural sciences, aiming to assist students in their preparation for the exams. The models for the national external assessment were already available before the start of the school year, and now new practical tasks have been added to them.
It is expected that during the mathematics exams for 7th and 10th grade, 6 tasks from natural sciences will be included, which require mathematical knowledge. Students will not be required to master complex concepts or memorize theory on the subjects, but to solve real cases that will be useful to them in life. In this way, practical thinking and the application of mathematics in various scientific fields are encouraged.
“The goal is not to make it difficult for students, but to test their ability to solve practical problems,” Minister of Education Krasimir Valchev emphasized. He explained that the tasks will contain elements of geography, biology, physics and chemistry, and the necessary formulas will be provided on the exam.
The total number of tasks on the exam becomes 24 for VII grade and 18 for X grade. In order for students to have more time for understanding and solving, the exam time is increased – by 15 minutes (a total of 180 minutes) for seventh graders and by 30 minutes (up to 120 minutes) for tenth graders.
Among the newly published tasks for 7th grade, examples can be found on the website of the Ministry of Education and Science: https://www.mon.bg/obshto-obrazovanie/natsionalno-vanshno-otsenyavane-nvo/nvo-za-vii-klas/model-na-nvo-za-vii-klas/.
It is important to pay attention to mathematics at the beginning of the school year, as there are many logical tasks in the tests. For preparation in Bulgarian language and literature, it is recommended to further familiarize yourself with the mandatory literature, available at: https://iotacentre.bg/zadalzhitelna-literatura/.
