As part of a large-scale project for technological modernization of police forces, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) is proceeding with the purchase of 13,400 body cameras. This ambitious initiative was discussed during a working meeting with the participation of Minister Daniel Mitov, the acting U.S. Ambassador to Bulgaria Martin McDowell, and Trade Attaché Hanna Kamenecki.
The strategic initiative aims to significantly improve operational efficiency and transparency in the performance of duties by police officers. The new technical equipment will be distributed among uniformed officers with police powers nationwide.
According to the official agreement, a contractor has already been selected to carry out the delivery of modern devices. The key objective of the project is to ensure higher security for both citizens and MoI employees, especially during critical incidents and high-risk situations.
Body cameras represent an innovative technical solution that will allow documenting police interventions while providing additional protection and transparency in the performance of official duties. They will be an indispensable tool for objectively reflecting official actions and preventing potential conflict situations.
The Ministry expects that the implementation of this modern technology will lead to a significant improvement in the quality of police work, increased public trust, and the creation of a safer environment for all citizens.
The project is being implemented in the context of ongoing efforts to modernize and technologically update Bulgarian law enforcement agencies. It is part of a broader strategy to improve efficiency and professionalism in the internal security sector.
The delivery and distribution of body cameras are expected to be carried out in stages, ensuring the fastest and most effective introduction of the new equipment into operation.
