Large-scale operation by Varna Customs against smuggling
Customs officers from the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department at TD "Customs" – Varna uncovered an attempt to import undeclared textile products in large quantities. During a thorough inspection of a truck transporting goods from Turkey, over 2,700 undeclared garments and nearly 4,500 square meters of fabric were discovered.
The truck with Bulgarian registration was traveling under the "transit" customs regime to a customs office in the city of Varna.
Details of the case
During the physical inspection of the declared cargo, inspectors found discrepancies between the goods described in the documents and the actual quantity in the truck. Among the seized items are:
- A large number of ready-to-wear clothing and garments;
- Bath towels and textile bedding;
- Cotton and synthetic fabrics in rolls.
Currently, the entire shipment is detained under customs supervision. An administrative-penal proceeding has been initiated regarding the case, and the origin of the goods and the individuals responsible for the attempt to bypass customs control are yet to be established.
