Large-scale operation by Varna Customs: Thousands of children's goods seized
Officers from the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department at TD Customs Varna have prevented the import of a large quantity of undeclared and counterfeit goods. During two separate inspections of containers arriving from China, a total of 64,492 children's items were discovered.
The containers passed through the Varna West Customs Point, and the goods were intended for various Bulgarian companies.
What did the customs officers find?
- Smuggled bracelets: In the first container, 20 parcels containing 60,000 glowing children's bracelets were found, which had not been declared to the authorities.
- Counterfeit toys: In the second container, 4,492 children's toys branded with figures of popular cartoon characters were identified.
Consequences for the offenders
The goods, which are subject to intellectual property rights, have been detained in accordance with European Regulation 608/2013. Administrative penal proceedings have been initiated regarding the case, and the holders of the protected trademarks will be officially notified.
