Criminal case at Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint
Customs officials at the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint prevented a serious attempt at weapons smuggling. During a thorough inspection of a truck entering from Turkey, 45 handguns were discovered.
The truck was traveling from Turkey to Germany, with the officially declared cargo being figs.
How were the weapons discovered?
- The vehicle was selected for inspection through risk analysis.
- Specialized X-ray equipment was used, which detected areas of unusual density.
- The weapons were hidden in seven different locations: in the driver's cabin, in side tool compartments, and near the battery.
Alarming statistics
Data from the Customs Agency shows an alarming trend:
- In the last 3 months, 1,640 firearms have been seized.
- This amount is five times higher than the total number of weapons seized during the period 2020–2025.
Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated regarding the case, and the driver has been detained. We remind you that just a few days ago, on July 15, another 20 handguns were seized in a bus at the same border checkpoint.
