Attempted silver smuggling at Kapitan Andreevo BCP
Customs officers at the "Kapitan Andreevo" border checkpoint have prevented a major smuggling attempt involving precious metals. During an inspection of a bus traveling from Turkey through Bulgaria to Ukraine, over 2 kilograms of silver jewelry were seized.
The case dates back to July 22, 2026, when the vehicle was selected for a thorough customs inspection following a risk analysis.

Although the passengers initially stated that they were not carrying any goods to declare, a thorough inspection revealed eight packages of jewelry hidden in a handbag belonging to one of the passengers. An expert assessment confirmed that the items were sterling silver in commercial quantities.
Consequences for the offender
The silver jewelry has been seized by customs authorities. An administrative violation act under the Customs Act has been issued to the woman who was carrying the smuggled goods.
