Illegal canned mushroom workshop uncovered in Lukovit
Officers from the "Countering Economic Crime" sector at the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Lovech, together with inspectors from the Regional Food Safety Directorate (BFSA), have broken up an illegal production facility in the town of Lukovit.
The operation was launched following a tip-off and an advertisement posted on social media for the sale of canned mushrooms.
During the inspection of the property, managed by two 32-year-old men, the following violations were established:
- 609 jars of finished products were found without labels or data on their origin.
- The total weight of the seized unregulated goods amounts to 321 kg.
- Production equipment was discovered, including a sterilizing boiler and packaging materials.
Law enforcement authorities have initiated administrative proceedings. A 59-year-old woman, who was responsible for distributing the canned goods online, will be issued a citation.
