The Ministry of Defense has concluded a framework agreement for the delivery of over 4,000 pistols for the Land Forces, said the outgoing Minister of Defense Atanas Zapryanov.
A project for the acquisition of a 9x19 mm multi-shot pistol, related to the rearmament of the Bulgarian Army, does not appear in the portfolio of projects of the Ministry of Defense, Zapryanov specified.
At the request of the Land Forces command, the Ministry of Defense conducted a procedure in 2024 for conducting a public procurement with the subject of acquiring small arms, by concluding framework agreements for six separately allocated positions. One of them is for the acquisition of a 9x19 mm multi-shot pistol kit, and a participant was selected in first place based on criteria for the lowest proposed price, the minister explained.
The company will deliver a 9x19 mm multi-shot pistol, manufactured in Croatia, brand Springfield Armory Echelon 4.5, he pointed out, specifying that the product corresponds to the adopted technical specification, which was developed at the request of the Land Forces command.
Zapryanov also pointed out that the decision to determine the contractor has not been appealed, and on September 29, 2025, a framework agreement was concluded for the delivery of 4,327 pieces of 9x19 mm multi-shot pistol kits, with a term of validity of the agreement of 48 months, at a value of 3,240,923 BGN excluding VAT.
