Council of Ministers Granted the Island of “St. St. Kirik and Julita” to the Ministry of Culture

The Council of Ministers decided to grant the island of “St. St. Kirik and Julita” to the Ministry of Culture for development as a cultural and historical center. The decision aims to preserve, socialize, and promote the cultural heritage and does not lead to additional expenses for the budget.

The Council of Ministers adopted a decision for the gratuitous provision for management of a property - public state property, representing part of the island “St. St. Kirik and Yulita” in the town of Sozopol, to the Ministry of Culture.

The decision creates conditions for the comprehensive and sustainable development of the territory as an object of extremely high cultural and historical value and strategic importance for the preservation and promotion of the cultural heritage of the Republic of Bulgaria.

It provides an opportunity for the consistent implementation of the state policy on the preservation, socialization and promotion of cultural heritage, as well as for the development of the island as a museum, cultural and research center of international significance. The decision is in accordance with the current regimes for the preservation of the territory.

The decision does not lead to additional expenses for the state budget and is aimed at ensuring the sustainable management of state property in the public interest.
