Increased levels of fine particulate matter in 2025

Minister of Environment and Water Rositsa Karamfilova announced in Burgas that the levels of fine particulate matter (PM) in 2025 are higher compared to the previous year. Domestic heating with solid fuels is cited as the main source of pollution.

"Our ambition does not stop here – the modernization of stationary measuring stations is forthcoming," the minister stated.

The new mobile air quality monitoring stations are a key tool for rapid response to pollution reports. One of them is located at the regional laboratory in Burgas and has been upgraded with specific equipment for measuring organic compounds, responding to citizens' reports of unpleasant odors.

Priorities for environmental protection

Currently, the dams intended for drinking water are over 88% full, which ensures stability for the upcoming period.
