Improving air quality in the country
Recent data from monitoring sensors show a positive trend in air pollution levels in a number of cities in Western Bulgaria.
In Kyustendil, the values are now below dangerous levels, and in Kostinbrod, there is a steady improvement.
Current situation by city:
- Sofia: Levels of fine particulate matter are within normal limits.
- Dragoman: According to the Ministry of Environment and Water (MOEW), there are no elevated levels of harmful emissions.
To ensure constant transparency, a mobile automatic station has been installed near the municipal building in Dragoman for additional monitoring.
Where did the smoke come from?
In recent days, the region was affected by smoke carried by strong winds. The main sources of the smoke were active forest fires in the territories of Serbia and Albania.
