AI assisting teachers against cheating
The Minister of Education and Science, Prof. Dr. Georgi Valchev, announced decisive measures to limit fraud during state matriculation exams.
"In the coming years, we will create a system to detect plagiarized papers with the help of artificial intelligence", he stated firmly before the parliamentary committee on education.
Salaries and the future of schools
- Teacher salaries: The policy of maintaining remuneration at 125% of the average salary continues.
- Small schools: The Ministry of Education and Science is committed to protecting schools in small settlements, as their closure is an irreversible process.
- Staff shortage: Solutions are being sought for the chronic shortage of science and mathematics teachers by increasing university admissions.
Changes in National External Evaluation (NVO) and higher education
Regarding national external evaluations, the ministry emphasizes the need to maintain the format for assessing knowledge after the 4th and 10th grades. Minister Valchev rejected the possibility of a second attempt at the NVO, arguing there is a risk of placing students at an unequal disadvantage.
In addition, the Ministry of Education and Science plans a comprehensive review of tuition fees in higher education institutions, with the goal of finding a fairer model next year.
