Origin: Western Bulgaria
Prep time: ~90 minutes (including proofing)
Ingredients:
– 500 g flour
– 1 egg
– 7 g dry yeast
– 250 ml warm milk
– 1 tsp sugar
– 1 tsp salt
– 100 g white cheese
– 80 g melted butter
– 1 tbsp oil
Preparation:
1. Mix yeast, milk, and sugar in a bowl. Let it activate for 5–10 minutes.
2. Add egg, salt, and flour. Knead soft dough and let rise for 45 minutes.
3. Divide into ~12 balls, dip each in oil, and arrange in a tray.
4. Sprinkle with crumbled cheese and pour over melted butter.
5. Bake at 180°C for ~25 minutes until golden.
