The Ministry of Innovation and Growth (MIG) will provide an additional 40.8 million euros to improve energy efficiency in another 1073 Bulgarian companies. With the additional funds, the number of supported companies will reach 2395, which is also the number of all approved companies under the procedure, and its budget with the added funds reached 105.2 million euros. The investments are under a measure of the Program “Competitiveness and Innovation in Enterprises“ (CIPE), the MIG press center announced.

So far, 1322 micro, small and medium-sized firms were proposed for funding under the measure, out of a total of 2678 applicant companies. The total amount requested by all applicant companies amounted to 116.8 million euros, or double the initially set budget under the measure of nearly 64.4 million euros.

The supported companies will receive between 15,000 and 50,000 euros to purchase energy-efficient equipment and facilities with which to ensure their own production and storage of electricity. These include, for example, heat pumps, systems for recovering waste heat, energy-efficient insulation systems in buildings, photovoltaic panels, local energy storage facilities (batteries), etc.

The CIPE procedure is a continuation of the ministry's efforts to achieve greater energy independence of businesses and reduce bills for electricity, natural gas, liquid fuels or other energy carriers, the MIG press center clarifies.
