The Ministry of Interior is launching intensified checks on heavy-duty vehicles over 3.5 tons. The operation focuses on the technical roadworthiness of trucks following the deadly incidents on the "Trakia" motorway.

Massive truck inspections across the country following a series of serious accidents

Acting Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Chief Commissioner Lyubomir Nikolov, has ordered the immediate implementation of intensified control measures on heavy-duty traffic throughout the country. The measure comes as a reaction to the frequent serious road accidents involving trucks.

The control will be prioritized toward freight vehicles over 12 tons, with their technical roadworthiness being strictly checked.

The inspections will involve joint teams from the National Police, Border Police, the Sofia Directorate of Interior (SDVR), and the Executive Agency "Automobile Administration" (EAAA). The focus of the inspections includes:

When violations are identified, drivers will be sanctioned on the spot. In cases of detected technical malfunctions, the information will be forwarded to the "Automobile Administration" for follow-up administrative action.

We remind you that just in the last few days, a series of serious accidents on the Trakia motorway resulted in casualties and injuries, including children, which necessitated the urgent response of the Ministry of Interior.
