A New Approach to Investigating Traffic Accidents

In the event of traffic accidents resulting in moderate or severe injuries, investigative authorities will now examine not only the driver and the vehicle itself, but also the condition of the road. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Interior Kaloyan Kaloyanov during the commemoration of Road Safety Day.

Our idea is to ensure that even in the event of severe accidents, the likelihood of serious consequences is reduced, commented Kaloyanov.

What will be inspected?

A comprehensive approach to road safety

According to the Deputy Minister, road safety is a shared commitment, with the share of the Ministry of Interior being only 20-30%. The remaining responsibility is distributed among numerous institutions, the educational system, and active civic participation. The Ministry of Interior has already conducted a detailed analysis of accidents by time, location, and cause, based on which specific corrective actions have been taken.
