Another large-scale anti-drug operation by Bulgarian border services concluded with a successful seizure of an impressive batch of marijuana. The specialized police unit from the Regional Border Police Directorate - Burgas undertook extensive actions at sea at the beginning of the week.

Police patrol boats conducted extensive patrolling in high-risk zones for illegal migration and drug trafficking. On July 9, officers from the Border Police Department-Varna discovered an initial sack with suspicious plant substances on the coastline of the town of Byala.

The initial drug test confirmed the presence of cannabis in vacuum-packed packages. Subsequent search activities involving specialized tactical groups and maritime surveillance systems revealed additional sacks with identical contents.

One of the containers was located in the area of Coral Beach. Operational information indicates that the criminals had planned a deliberate disposal of drugs in the water, aiming to avoid police checks on watercraft.

The total quantity of seized narcotic substances amounts to approximately 40 kilograms of marijuana. The competent authorities initiated pre-trial proceedings under Article 242, Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code.

The investigation continues under the direct guidance and procedural supervision of the Varna District Prosecution, which will establish the full circumstances surrounding this large-scale drug trafficking attempt.
