A large-scale information campaign focused on preventing illegal migration was officially presented today by Bulgarian and British state institutions. Over a hundred information boards will be strategically positioned along the country's main transportation arteries, with the message being disseminated in Bulgarian, English, and Turkish.

Deputy Minister Toni Todorov emphasized the exceptional significance of the joint initiative, defining the counteraction of illegal migration as a key national priority. According to official data, transporting illegal migrants in heavy-duty trucks represents an extremely risky model of criminal behavior that threatens people's lives.

Chief Commissioner Anton Zlatanov from Border Police shared a specific case illustrating the dramatic consequences of such actions. Recently, his team saved 48 migrants found in critical condition - dehydrated and exhausted, as a result of extreme temperature conditions during transportation.

As part of the campaign, Border Police is introducing additional communication channels through the 112 system. Operators will immediately transmit signals related to illegal migration, which will significantly improve operational coordination between different services.

The United Kingdom's Ambassador Nathaniel Copsey defined human trafficking as a serious crime that destroys human lives. According to him, every step to raise public awareness is of exceptional importance.

The campaign is directed at truck drivers who might consciously or unconsciously assist in the illegal transportation of migrants. The British side has committed to developing visual materials, including billboards, posters, and information leaflets.

A similar information initiative was already implemented in 2022, which demonstrates consistency in efforts to prevent and combat illegal migration.
