Eight fire teams from different cities in the region participated in the successful operation to extinguish a large-scale fire in the "Trakia" urban quarter in Shumen. The spokesperson for the Regional Police Directorate - Shumen, Asya Yordanova, confirmed the complete containment of the fire, which covered a significant area of dry grass.
According to official information, the fire was localized thanks to the joint efforts of firefighters from Shumen, Veliki Preslav, and Novi Pazar. Experts managed to prevent the spread of flames and minimize potential material losses.
During the operation, electricity supply in the area was temporarily interrupted, which was subsequently fully restored. Local authorities' representatives emphasized the professionalism of the rescue teams in handling the emergency situation.
Statistical data reveal the scale of challenges facing fire services. From the beginning of the year until August 7, Shumen firefighters have extinguished a total of 325 field and forest fires, with the number reaching 115 in July alone.
On-duty firefighting and rescue teams have responded to 23 emergency calls in the past 72 hours, demonstrating their constant readiness and effectiveness.
