State of emergency and large-scale operation near Bolyarovo
The intense battle against the large fire that broke out near the Bolyarovo villages of Denitsa and Kamen Vrah continues. At present, the fire has affected over 1,500 decares of land, with strong winds further hindering firefighting efforts by carrying the flames toward a deciduous forest.
"The situation is normalizing. Heavy machinery is still working to contain the hotspots. Aerial firefighting helped immensely in bringing the fire under control and preventing the danger to the village of Kamen Vrah," stated Regional Governor Georgi Chalakov.
Coordination and team efforts
Due to the critical situation, the Bolyarovo municipality declared a state of emergency, and the BG-ALERT system was activated due to heavy smoke. The operation involved:
- Ten firefighting teams from the Yambol, Sliven, and Burgas regions.
- Agricultural machinery, forestry, and border officials.
- Numerous volunteers supporting the efforts of the professionals.
Commissioner Ivan Dinev explained that the fire had spread on three fronts. Thanks to the created firebreaks and the work of heavy tracked machinery throughout the night, two of the fronts have already been contained. Today's main efforts are focused on the front in the direction of the villages of Polyana and Denitsa.
