The Burgas Appellate Court will hear the case against four suspected drug traffickers, caught during a large-scale law enforcement operation. The court session is scheduled for August 1 at 11:00 AM in Hall No. 1, which will determine the future judicial fate of the detainees.
The criminal investigation revealed a large-scale plan for drug distribution. The criminal group specialized in logistics and storage of cannabis, with 380 kilograms of marijuana seized during the special operation. The seized quantities were found during a police check in the Tvarditsa area, Sliven region, as well as in an additional warehouse in Yambol.
The investigation is being conducted by the Sliven Regional Prosecutor's Office, which is documenting all circumstances surrounding the crime. The initial measure of "detention in custody", imposed by the Sliven Regional Court, is pending review by the appellate magistrates in Burgas.
The operation is part of a large-scale investigation by the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime. On July 24, two Turkish citizens and two Bulgarian citizens were detained during the transportation of the drug. Approximately 200 kg of marijuana were found in a van with Bulgarian registration, moving along the Sliven - Sofia route.
Additional searching in the Yambol warehouse revealed an additional 180 kg of cannabis, bringing the total quantity to an impressive 380 kilograms. The case is considered one of the largest drug trafficking cases uncovered this year.
