The Russian oil giant Lukoil has reached an agreement to sell its foreign assets to the American company Carlyle Group.
The deal is worth $22 billion and is subject to approval from US authorities. This is in accordance with US sanctions, which are forcing Lukoil to divest its assets abroad, including the Neftohim refinery in Burgas and gas stations in Bulgaria. The deadline for concluding the deal was February 28.
The sale is partial, as Lukoil will retain its shares in Kazakhstan.
