Who appoints Bulgaria's foreign ministers?
During a parliamentary declaration, "Vazrazhdane" leader Kostadin Kostadinov stated that it is an "open secret" that Bulgarian foreign ministers are appointed by foreign ambassadors. He directly asked the Prime Minister who chose the current foreign minister, describing her work as an "inadequate choice."
"Yesterday, as a Bulgarian, I felt humiliation, shame, and disgrace because of the way our foreign minister received the Turkish foreign minister," Kostadinov stated.
Concerns about national sovereignty
Kostadinov highlighted several key concerns regarding national interests:
- Energy and infrastructure: Turkey's demands for negotiations on the "Botaş" contract in exchange for the construction of the "Black Sea" motorway.
- Water resources: Potential negotiations regarding the waters of the Tundzha and Maritsa rivers.
- Diplomatic pressure: Greece's insistence on continuing water supplies to their country, despite the expiration of the agreement.
According to the "Vazrazhdane" leader, Bulgaria is turning into a "state with fading functions" due to the Euro-Atlantic policy followed by the current parliament.
