Burgas's Complex Oncology Centre will run prostate cancer checks every Friday in November, the hospital said. The centre is joining Movember, the global men's health campaign.

The checks are meant to catch the disease early and are advised for men over 50. To be seen, a man must already have had a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test.

Doctors see patients from 11:00 in room 102 of the Diagnostic and Consultation Unit, Building 1. To book, call 056 / 82 01 42 or go to the registry of the outpatient clinic at the Burgas Oncology Centre.

"Prostate cancer can go for a long time without clear symptoms," the centre said. It urges men not to wait for complaints but to get checked in good time. Doctors say prevention is a duty to yourself and to your loved ones.

"Being strong also means having the courage to look after yourself. Not to put it off. To choose prevention," the Burgas Oncology Centre wrote.

If cancer is suspected and there are medical grounds, the centre can do a fusion biopsy using MRI and ultrasound equipment. Doctors combine the images from both methods, which helps them aim more precisely at suspicious areas. The National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) covers the biopsy under a contract with the centre, if the medical criteria and payment terms are met.
