The Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) will discuss today the proposal of "Bulgargaz" to reduce the price of natural gas by 3.33 percent for January 2026 compared to December, according to the regulator's agenda.

The open meeting will start at 10:00 AM in the EWRC building. The topic of discussion will be the report regarding the application of the public supplier for approval of a new price for the next month, at which "Bulgargaz" will sell natural gas to end suppliers and to persons who have been issued a license for the production and transmission of thermal energy.

"Bulgargaz" proposes a price of natural gas for January of 60.91 leva (31.16 euros) per megawatt-hour (MWh), excluding access, transmission, excise, and VAT prices. The regulator approved a natural gas price for December in the amount of 63.01 BGN/MWh or 32.22 euros/MWh, excluding access, transmission, excise, and VAT prices. This means that the price proposed by "Bulgargaz" for January is 3.33 percent lower than the December price.

The company's proposal includes a component for the price of natural gas at the entrance to the gas transmission networks, a component for the activity "public supply" under Art. 17, para. 7 of the Regulation for the Regulation of Natural Gas Prices (NRCNG) and a component for compensating expenses under Art. 11a, para. 2 of the NRCNG, covering the expenses of "Bulgargaz" EAD for storing quantities in the gas storage facility in "Chiren", in fulfillment of obligations under the Action Plan for Emergency Situations.

BTA reminds that the price of natural gas in December is 4.3 percent lower compared to November, which was in the amount of 65.82 BGN/MWh, (33.65 euros/MWh).

A reference to the price levels shows that the price proposed by "Bulgargaz" for January 2026 is 25.67 percent lower compared to that approved for January 2025 and 22.4 percent lower compared to January 2024.
