Four leading organizations for waste packaging recycling in the country - "Ecopack Bulgaria" AD, "Ecobulpak Bulgaria" AD, "Bulecopack" AD and "Eco Partners Bulgaria" AD, are announcing the start of a large-scale national campaign. Under the slogan "You Buy. You Use. You Recycle", the initiative aims to encourage more citizens to participate in separate waste collection, emphasizing the importance of recycling for the preservation of the environment and society as a whole. This is clear from a press release issued by the four organizations.

The atmosphere in the organizations' offices is filled with dynamics. The preparations for the campaign are in full swing. Meetings, planning, finalizing details - everything is subordinated to the common goal - to reach the maximum number of people and convince them of the need for change.

The data collected from a representative online survey conducted in August 2025 provides an important basis for the campaign. The survey, covering 415 people aged between 20 and 55 from the urban population, reveals interesting trends. Over 90 percent of respondents recognize the importance of separate collection. However, the picture in practice is different. Only 44 percent of the participants state that they always practice separate collection, 36 percent do it sometimes, and the alarming 20 percent admit that they never do it.

The recycling organizations, operating in over 200 municipalities in the country, have been a key factor in efforts for sustainable waste management for years. They provide the colored containers for separate collection and fully finance their servicing, sorting and transportation of waste to recyclers.

The organizations note that the colored containers have been part of the urban landscape for more than 20 years. However, according to them, many citizens still haven't developed the habit of separately disposing of their waste. It is precisely for this reason that a large-scale information campaign will be held in October and November. The aim is to increase the awareness and engagement of citizens, the organizations add.

Within the framework of the campaign, citizens will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the rules for separate collection, adapted to the systems with two or three containers. On the specially created website www.reciklirai.bg they will be able to find information on which organization serves their municipality and get acquainted with basic tips for the correct sorting of waste.

The campaign will use various communication channels, including television, radio, outdoor and digital advertising. Materials will also be provided to all municipalities in order to reach as many people as possible. After the end of the campaign, an additional survey will be conducted to assess its effectiveness and the results achieved.

The organizations emphasize the key role of separate collection for the sustainable management of waste and the preservation of natural resources. "Every properly disposed packaging matters for the future of us all", the official statement says.

In another news item, which is related to the efforts for separate collection, at the end of last week, the deputy mayor for ecology of Sofia Municipality Nadezhda Bobcheva noted a positive trend. A decrease in the amount of garbage and an increase in separate collection were noted in the Sofia districts "Lyulin" and "Krasno Selo", where there were problems with waste collection. Bobcheva urged citizens to continue to collect separately.
