A strategic anti-epidemic plan goes into effect on August 4, 2025, in the Blagoevgrad region, aimed at preventing potential veterinary risks along the southern state border.
Experts from the Regional Epizootic Commission are introducing an unprecedented control mechanism for the cross-border movement of small ruminants, triggered by registered outbreaks of disease in Plovdiv region and the approach of the "Blue Tongue" virus towards Bulgarian territories.
The measures taken include a categorical ban on uncontrolled trade and movement of animals without official permission. In parallel, a special monitored zone will be created where veterinary specialists will conduct mandatory clinical examinations.
The goal of these emergency actions is to maximize the limitation of epidemiological risks and protect national livestock from potential infectious diseases.
