Enhanced security measures at the borders
Minister of Interior Ivan Demerdzhiev assured that the situation is being monitored continuously and that all necessary measures for national security have been taken. In connection with potential threats, intelligence services are working in close cooperation with NATO partners.
"We are using all opportunities to strengthen the country's air defense," commented Demerdzhiev regarding the potential deployment of Patriot systems.
- Technical equipment: Efforts are focused on quickly filling gaps in technical equipment.
- Bulgarian-Turkish border: Funds and anti-drone systems have already been secured, acting as an effective barrier.
- Priorities: The government's ambition is for the Black Sea and Bulgarian-Turkish borders to become a benchmark for an external border of the European Union.
Demerdzhiev emphasized that the coordination between the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Defense is at a high level in order to plan the acquisition of the necessary modern defense systems.
