The Church “St. Nicholas the Miracle-Worker” in the largest Burgas complex “Meden Rudnik” is launching a social mission to support uninsured and socially vulnerable individuals. This month, two medical offices will officially open their doors in the church complex, one of which will be a dental office, where those in need will receive free medical assistance.

The initiative is realized with the blessing of His Eminence, the Metropolitan of Sliven, Arseniy, and is the result of a partnership between the church council and the Burgasmed Hospital.

The chairman of the church council, Father Emilian, explained to BTA that the idea is for the offices to function permanently, with a different medical specialist on duty in them each week. The first examinations will be performed on February 12 by cardiologist Dr. Borche Nikolovski. The chosen day for consultations is every Thursday from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, as the day is dedicated to St. Nicholas - the patron saint of Burgas and the patron of the church. Father Emilian expressed confidence that the example of “Burgasmed” will be followed by other medical institutions in the city, which will provide doctors on a rotating basis.

He also appealed to parishioners and businesses for help in equipping the offices with specific medical equipment and consumables, which are unaffordable for the church's budget. In parallel with medical care, the opening of a soup kitchen, a Sunday school, a library, and a computer room are being prepared in the complex.
