FIERY HELL IN SAKAR: THOUSANDS OF DECARES ENGULFED IN FLAMES, THE BATTLE WITH THE ELEMENTS CONTINUES

HASKOVO - A massive forest fire is raging in the Sakar region, engulfing vast areas between the villages of Mladinovo, Lisovo, and Kostur. The fiery blaze has covered approximately 1000 decares, primarily pastures and forests, as officially announced by the Haskovo Regional Administration. Firefighters are battling the flames, which are rapidly spreading, fueled by the continuous, strong wind.

The situation on the ground is extremely complex. At this stage, firefighters are facing serious challenges due to the unfavorable weather conditions and the inaccessible terrain. Dramatic footage from the scene shows thick smoke rising into the sky, shrouding the entire horizon, as crews try to forge a path through the rugged area to reach the most dangerous hotspots.

The rescue operation involves 13 fire engines from the Regional Directorate of Fire Safety and Civil Protection - Haskovo. Additional forces have joined the fight against the blaze, including one bulldozer, which is clearing firebreaks to limit the spread of the fire, as well as members of the volunteer formation "Svilengrad".

To expedite the containment of the fire, a decision has been made to include a helicopter. The aerial support will allow crews to reach hard-to-access areas and deliver precise water strikes from above.

Despite the seriousness of the situation, the Haskovo Regional Administration has assured that, at present, there is no immediate danger to populated areas. On-site teams are working tirelessly to ensure the safety of residents and prevent the flames from spreading toward the villages.

We continue to monitor the situation's development.
