Annual Biodiversity and Climate Awards 2025: The Nominations That Inspire

On December 19, 2025, the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation will present the Annual Biodiversity and Climate Awards. Among the nominees are campaigns and individuals from the Burgas region fighting for nature conservation. Vote for your favorites by December 18, 2025.

Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation (BBF) announces the holding of the official awards ceremony for the Annual Biodiversity and Climate Awards on December 19, 2025, in the "Peroto" club (NDK, Sofia). The awards recognize significant achievements in support of nature and climate, with this year's focus on initiatives implemented between May 22, 2024 – May 22, 2025 (Year of Biodiversity).

The Burgas region is strongly represented, with a total of 10 nominations, reflecting the activity of local communities in the fight to preserve the environment. The nominations include the fight against mega-projects, the protection of natural and cultural heritage, and the promotion of sustainable practices.

Among the nominees are the residents of Kableshkovo, who fought against a stone quarry, the residents of the village of Brashlyan, who protected the architectural heritage, and the "For Clean Nature – Dyulevo" association, which opposed a photovoltaic park. Svetoslav Mitev is nominated for the development of cycling in Burgas, Iva Lalovska for her work at the turtle rescue center in Banya, and Nikola Bobchev - for the fight against plastic pollution in the Black Sea. The "Celesten Frene" Elementary School is also recognized for environmental education, as well as the initiatives Tour Strandzha and the "Clean and Accessible Strandzha" campaign. Rada Boneva is nominated for journalistic materials about Atanasovsko Lake.

Voting for the awards is open until December 18, 2025, at 20:00 through the online system .
