The first permanent exhibition of its kind, dedicated to seagrass in the Black Sea, has opened in Burgas. The project was realized through a partnership between the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation (BBF), the Burgas Regional Tourism Association (BRTA), and the Municipality of Burgas.
The information boards are now located on St. Anastasia Island and in the area to the left of the Burgas Pier. The exhibition presents scientific information on the importance of underwater meadows for the ecosystem, fish stocks, and coastal protection, while also distinguishing between seagrass and algae.
The concept and content were developed by the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation as part of the international BLUE CONNECT project. The physical implementation, including printing and lighting, was provided by the Burgas Regional Tourism Association through the BLUE C project.
The Municipality of Burgas provided the location for the permanent exhibition on St. Anastasia Island, which welcomes around 35,000 visitors annually. The materials have been prepared to be accessible to a wide audience—from children to adults—with the aim of increasing ocean literacy among citizens and visitors to the city.
