Attack on NRA inspectors in Sunny Beach
During a routine inspection at a commercial site in Sunny Beach, two employees of the National Revenue Agency (NRA) were subjected to physical aggression. The incident was confirmed by Hristo Uzunov, spokesperson for the NRA-Burgas.
"This tension among representatives of the grey economy is understandable to us, but it is unacceptable for it to escalate into physical aggression," stated Uzunov.
Following the tension that arose, one of the inspectors was pushed, and the perpetrator took the fiscal device and fled the premises. The police responded promptly, detained the individual, and initiated pre-trial proceedings.
Increased control along the Black Sea coast
The NRA is conducting large-scale inspections across the country, with the focus on the Burgas region intensified through:
- Surveillance of over 40 sites in the region;
- Inspections of restaurants, bars, and retail kiosks;
- Strict monitoring for failure to issue receipts.
The data from the inspections is startling – in the sites under surveillance in the Varna region, turnover jumped between 100 and 400 times following the intervention of tax authorities.
Advice to consumers
The NRA reminds customers that they have the right to request their receipt. In case of doubt regarding its authenticity, citizens may withhold payment until they are certain that the document is correct.
