Eight years after its opening, the branch of the National Academy of Arts (NAA) in Burgas trains 140 students. Director Prof. Svetozar Benchev, Prof. Dr. Kristina Borisova and Asst. Emil Markov shared with the magazine “LIK” on the occasion of 130 years of higher art education in Bulgaria.
Prof. Benchev emphasized that the quality of education is the same as in Sofia, and a big plus is the location on the seashore. Prof. Dr. Kristina Borisova noted the stronger connection between students from different specializations, contributing to the exchange of experience.
Prof. Borisova mentioned that every student should combine freedom with responsibility. Prof. Benchev added that in the first years the rules are learned, and then - how to break them in order to achieve true art.
Asst. Emil Markov noted that the branch has a tangible influence on the cultural life in Burgas and gradually brings back the spirit of the old Burgas art school.
