Professor Petko Chobanov nominated for the Order of "St. St. Cyril and Methodius"

The Council of Ministers has nominated Professor Petko Chobanov for the Order of "St. St. Cyril and Methodius," first class, for his contribution to higher education and the Burgas Free University.

Recognition for long-standing academic contribution

The Council of Ministers has officially proposed to Vice President Iliana Iotova that Prof. Petko Chobanov be awarded the Order of "Saints Cyril and Methodius" – first degree. The distinction is awarded for his exceptional merits in the field of higher education in Bulgaria.

Prof. Chobanov is the founder of the Burgas Free University (BFU) in 1991 and has played a key role in its development as a modern academic center.

Thanks to his efforts, the UNESCO Chair in Human Rights and Culture of Peace was established at BFU, which placed Burgas on the world academic map. Prof. Chobanov is also known for his support for young scientists and doctoral students, creating conditions for the development of scientific potential.
