On July 10, 2025, leading government officials and European functionaries will make an official visit to St. Catherine University Hospital, which will highlight an extremely significant healthcare infrastructure project.

The delegation, led by Celine Gauer - Director General in the Working Group for Reforms and Investments, will include Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev, Minister of Health Assoc. Prof. Dr. Silvi Kirilov, and representatives of the European Commission.

The main goal of the visit is a detailed discussion of the next steps in implementing reforms and investments, following the amendment to the Recovery and Resilience Plan approved on July 2, 2025.

The specific project provides for the construction of a modern air emergency medical assistance system that will cover the entire national territory. The investment includes two key directions - delivery of seven specialized medical helicopters and construction of six fully equipped operational sites.

The financial resource for implementation amounts to 145 million leva, with the final deadline for full system implementation set for June 30, 2026. The project is being implemented under the "Healthcare" component of the Recovery and Resilience Plan.

The upcoming visit will also serve to discuss the procedures for submitting the second and third payment requests, which are planned by the end of the current year.
