Key meeting at the Council of Ministers
Prime Minister Rumen Radev is convening an urgent meeting with representatives of the management of the companies "Litasco" and "Lukoil". The talks will take place at 1:00 PM in the Council of Ministers building, the government press service announced.
The discussions will be attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Galab Donev, as well as the Minister of Economy, Investments and Industry Alexander Pulev.
Threat of 3 billion euro arbitration
The Swiss company "Litasco SA", which is part of the "Lukoil" group and a shareholder in "Lukoil Neftohim Burgas" and "Lukoil Bulgaria", has filed an arbitration dispute against the Bulgarian state. Minister Alexander Pulev warned that the potential amount of the claim reaches 3 billion euros, which poses a serious risk to fiscal stability.
Changes in leadership and control
The meeting comes against the backdrop of personnel changes in state control over the oil company:
- On June 3, Rumen Spetsov was dismissed from the post of special commercial manager of "Lukoil".
- Evgeni Simeonov was appointed in his place with the aim of ensuring more effective and transparent control.
- The motives for the change are defined by the government as "complex" and categorical.
