Due to the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays, traffic on the Danube Bridge near Ruse will be restored in both directions from December 18th of this year. Construction work in the currently closed 320-meter section of the roadway towards Romania is nearing completion. Thus, during the Christmas and New Year holidays, all types of vehicles will pass without restrictions. This was announced by the Road Infrastructure Agency (API).
In this way, safe and convenient passage will be ensured for travelers on the facility. The main repair of the bridge in the next stage will continue at the beginning of next year. "It is planned that construction and installation works will continue from January 8th in the next 320 meters of the bridge in the roadway towards Bulgaria," explained API.
During the last week, a parapet, lighting poles and a drainage collector were installed on the site. The renovation of the comb joints and the laying of a protective coating on the sidewalk block continued.
Activities on the Danube Bridge are carried out daily during the daylight hours and depending on the weather conditions. The work process is organized and carried out in such a way that vehicles pass in stages in both directions in the roadway where no work is being done.
The beginning of the main repair of the Bulgarian section of the facility was set on July 10th last year. It is 1,057 kilometers long. 413 meters of it have already been completely repaired.
