Digitalization of medical specializations in Bulgaria
Minister of Health Katya Ivkova announced key changes to the system for acquiring medical specializations. A major focus is the creation of a unified electronic portal, which will officially launch on January 1, 2027.
"The goal is to ensure full transparency and traceability in the announcement of vacancies for medical trainees," commented Minister Ivkova.
What is changing for medical trainees?
- Digital record book: All training data will be collected in a unified electronic format.
- Fair pay: New rules are being introduced, aimed at preventing the hiring of medical trainees at the minimum wage.
- Transparent access: The portal will consolidate job postings from both public and private healthcare institutions.
Currently, the Ministry of Health is reviewing 12 proposals submitted during the public consultation process before the final adoption of the regulation. The project is part of a large-scale strategy for the modernization of medical education in Bulgaria.
