Nine accidents with injured people were registered over the weekend, the police announced. Fortunately, there were no fatalities, but the total number of people affected and the variety of incidents highlight the need for increased caution on the road. Most of the accidents were related to typical violations like unadjusted speed, failure to yield, and improper overtaking.

Series of incidents on August 16

One of the most serious incidents was registered around 2:55 PM at the Aheloy roundabout, on the busy Burgas – Varna road. The driver of an Audi A5 Cabriolet, a 50-year-old man from Burgas, was driving at an unadjusted speed. This led to a loss of control, causing the car to hit a roadside guardrail, bounce off, and collide laterally with another car, a Mercedes A 180, driven by a 58-year-old woman from Burgas. Ultimately, the Audi went through the roundabout and into a roadside ditch. The Audi driver was transported to "Heart and Brain" hospital but left the medical facility of his own accord, without reporting serious injuries.

At almost the same time, around 3:00 PM, a more unusual incident occurred in the village of Ravda. In the parking lot of a "Lidl" store, a 58-year-old man from Nesebar, while leaving the parking lot in his Mazda 5 car, hit a shopping cart. The impact caused the cart to bounce off and hit a 40-year-old female pedestrian from Sofia. The woman sustained minor injuries and was examined at the "Heart and Brain" hospital, after which she was released for home treatment.

Just a minute later, at 3:01 PM, in the Burgas neighborhood of "Vetren", on the Aytos – Burgas road, a 29-year-old man from Bulgarovo lost control of his Honda motorcycle and fell onto the roadway. The motorcyclist was examined at the "Deva Maria" hospital with an open wound on his foot but without a life-threatening condition, and was released.

On the evening of August 16, around 6:10 PM, in the Sunny Beach resort, opposite the "Petrol" gas station in Sveti Vlas, a BMW 535 D car with Gabrovo registration, driven by a 45-year-old man from Gabrovo, performed an improper overtaking maneuver. This led to a collision with a Yamaha motorcycle, ridden by a 25-year-old man from Nesebar. The motorcyclist sustained a stomach contusion and was taken to the "Heart and Brain" hospital, but his life is not in danger.

Another incident occurred on the Pomorie street "Knyaz Boris I" around 6:32 PM at a pedestrian crossing. The driver of a Ford Transit truck, a 50-year-old man from the village of Vrachesh, failed to yield to two 23-year-old pedestrians, a man and a woman from Varna, who were crossing the road. The driver hit them with the car's right side mirror. Fortunately, after being examined at the hospital, both were released without injuries.

Later that day, around 9:08 PM, in the Karnobat neighborhood of "Lyulyatsite", a curious incident was registered. A 74-year-old woman from Karnobat was injured by an unsupervised horse-drawn cart that rolled backward and went over her leg. The woman sustained an open wound under her right armpit and abrasions on her right ankle. She was admitted for treatment to the orthopedic department of the "Deva Maria" hospital without a life-threatening condition.
