The Burgas Pediatric Association organized an important forum at the Youth Cultural Center, dedicated to current issues in pediatric medicine.

Organ Transplantation in Children

A central topic in the discussions was organ transplantation in children – before, during, and after the surgical intervention. Participants emphasized the exceptional rarity of such procedures in Bulgaria, requiring precision and flexibility from medical teams. Among the speakers was Kevork Daduryan, father of a child who underwent a kidney transplant, whose personal experience added emotional weight to the discussion.

Preventive Check-ups

One of the key messages of the forum was the importance of regular preventive check-ups. Specialists urged the conduct of at least one preventive examination every six months, emphasizing the insidious and often asymptomatic nature of chronic kidney failure. They stressed the need for swift and decisive action when establishing the problem, as delays can have serious consequences.

Improving Health Culture

The audience was united in the understanding that improving health culture is a shared responsibility. Doctors recommended conducting blood tests, even without a referral, emphasizing the accessibility and relatively low cost of these tests. The forum also focused on an initiative, launched a few months ago, with the support of the Daduryan family, which includes testing for urea, creatinine, and uric acid in a package of basic analyses.

Partnership and Mutual Aid

Participants reached an agreement on partnership and mutual aid, in order to engage more parents in the prevention process, and to provide support – diagnostics, treatment, financial and logistical assistance – to families in need. The atmosphere in the hall was filled with concentration and seriousness, emphasizing the importance of the discussed issues for children"s health.

Children"s Hospital in Burgas

The host of the forum, Dr. Zhani Stoichkova, used the opportunity to emphasize the importance of the future Children_q_s Hospital in Burgas and the efforts of Mayor Nikolov for its realization. She highlighted the need to expand specialized medical care outside Sofia, to avoid the clustering of patients with severe illnesses in the capital and to ensure access to examinations and follow-up care after complex medical interventions, including transplants.
