Over 70 children from the kindergartens "Yana Laskova" and "Moryache" performed thematic poems and songs in the "Assumption of the Holy Virgin" church in Nessebar, dedicated to today's Day of the Christian Family. Shortly before that, the children listened together with the gathered parishioners to the instructive words of Father Peter, related to the bright date in the church calendar.
The celebration in the "Assumption of the Holy Virgin" church was organized with the assistance of Nessebar Municipality, the church council and the Thracian Society - Nessebar.
A little later today, two more events will take place, dedicated to November 21: students from the 4th grade with class teacher Sofia Naumova will paint thematic paintings in the "Yana Laskova" Community Center from 3:30 p.m., and at 5 p.m. a procession will start from the community center to the church in the Old Town.
On November 21, the Bulgarian Orthodox Church celebrates the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary - the day on which the three-year-old Mary was introduced into a Christian temple. The holiday is also known as the Day of the Christian Family and Youth. It is one of the 12 great Christian holidays equally honored by both Orthodoxy and Catholicism. This day reminds parents and teachers that they should reveal to children the meaning of piety, honesty and mercy, which are the basis of a meaningful and fulfilling life.
