The Council of Ministers has allocated over 1.7 million euros to compensate parents without places in nurseries. See which municipalities are included and what new child assessment system the Ministry of Education and Science is proposing.

State aid for parents of children without places in nurseries

The Council of Ministers has approved additional transfers for 2026 aimed at compensating parents whose children have not been admitted to municipal nurseries due to a lack of available places. The funds cover expenses for the period from May 1 to June 30, 2026.

The total amount of the targeted funds is 1,731,834 euros.

The financial assistance is distributed among the budgets of the following municipalities:

New national toolkit for child development

In parallel with the financial measures, the Ministry of Education and Science (MES) proposes the introduction of a unified national toolkit for tracking the development of preschool children.

The goal of the change is to avoid the existing differences in practices between individual kindergartens and schools, by ensuring common quality standards in education.
