The Appellate Court in Burgas made a decision on the case that shook the region – it upheld the measure of restraint against the Romanian citizen accused of the serious accident that took the lives of six migrants. The decision, which has serious legal consequences, comes against the backdrop of tension and questions about migration flows and border control.
The accused in the case is Ciprian State. He is detained in connection with the accident, which caused shock and sympathy. The tragic incident happened after a 30-minute chase with border police officers, which started near Kiten and ended near Burgas. The shocking footage from the scene circulated in the media, leaving an indelible mark. State is accused of committing two crimes, one of which is particularly serious – intentionally causing the deaths of six people. The investigation continues with full force, seeking answers to numerous questions.
Today, reporters were present in the courtroom, where prosecutor Yovita Grigorova presented her arguments. According to the evidence gathered, State planned to leave Bulgaria after transporting the foreigners, which raises additional questions about his motives and intentions. The prosecutor stressed that the accused has a clean criminal record and works as a furniture maker in Romania.
The accused addressed the court, highlighting his personal circumstances. He stated that he has a wife and child in Romania, and asked for a lighter measure of restraint. However, his request was not granted by the court. At the same time, the defense presented its position, according to which State committed the crimes by negligence.
